Coming at you again! Hey, I’m on a roll, kinda, so after the success of the last two timed-edition prints, I thought I’d give you a first shout on the next one. As you know, I’m painting a collection of backstage tour pass laminates, mostly my collection from touring with The Specials, but also, thanks to Mark Bedford, a handful from Madness. I have already painted 20 of them for a forthcoming exhibition, but only the first 4 will be released as timed editions. For the moment, I am concentrating on these. The third in this series, will be released at 11am on Sunday 30th September, available on the website and also at Colley Ison Gallery in Birmingham. Like the last two, this one will be available to purchase for one week only, until 6th October. After that, the edition will be SOLD OUT.
My thing about these tour passes (kept in a box in the attic, of course) is that, as time passed, I began to see them as little pieces of Pop Art and imagined what they would look like on a much larger scale. Many of them, in my opinion, stand alone as both bits of music history and as poster-style art. They look even better in multiples!
